Statement on ICE Arrests in Oregon Courts

The Oregon Hispanic Bar Association (OHBA) supports a recent letter request to Chief Justice Martha Walters for a court rule to stop unwarranted ICE enforcement activity in state courthouses. As ICE enforcement activity in state courthouses creates access to justice and racial profiling issues, OHBA supports the immediate creation of a rule prohibiting civil immigration arrests without a judicial warrant in or around Oregon state courthouses.

Background on ICE activity in courthouses throughout the state can be found on Innovation Law Lab's webpage, here

OHBA Members interested in signing the letter can find it here. The letter will be submitted Friday, August 23, 2019.
